These 1960s matchbook cover graphics come from the Tropics Motor Hotel, which was a tropical themed, multi-level hotel in Seattle, Washington. It was built in 1956 and had such features like an indoor swimming pool and The Island Room Lounge with nightly entertainment. Their motto was “Where its always summer!” The Tropics was the host hotel for the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair, being within walking distance of the Space Needle. The tropical grandeur of this hotel is all gone, and it is now a Quality Inn hotel, which has been heavily remodeled and only the basic shape of the Tropics survives.
